Skyfall is another minisumo I built and bears its name as tribute to the James Bond move Skyfall that came out at the time of this robot's creation. This robot is very fast, and can cover around 1 meter/second at top speed. Unfortunately, due to lack of traction, I couldn't get it to go more than 60% of its top speed, because it kept flying off the minisumo ring. Batteries - 9v alkaline and 1.5v AAA Drive Train - Four Pololu 50:1 HP micro metal gearmotors. Pololu item #:998 Sensors - Two CDS photocells (edge detection) and two Sharp GP2D120XJ00F Analog Distance Sensors Processor - Atmega328 Programming Language - C Motor Controller - Pololu Dual MC33887 Motor Driver Carrier Pololu item #:712 (discontinued) Chassis - Aluminum sheet metal. Skyfall did decently at the 2012 Atlanta Hobby Robot Rally, though in the final rounds the edge detection sensors encountered some problems most likely due to insufficient juice in its logic power supply (9v battery). Oh well. That's life. Skyfall isn't retired yet, so hopefully in the near future I'll be able to improve its edge detection and traction.
